Hot springs business Peninsula Hot Springs is expanding its business in Australia with plans to revive a hot springs business in the state of Victoria.
Australian hot spring operator Peninsula Hot Springs is expanding further as reported on SpaBusiness. Having visited the geothermal spa of the Peninsula Hot Springs back in 2011 and again during the World Geothermal Congress 2015, it was great to see the entrepreneurial spirit of founder of Charles Davidson and team. The company expanded into New Zealand and has been involved in great work blueprint for geothermal hot springs and bathing tourism strategy, we reported in 2019.
The company expanded its business into New Zealand, buying the Maruia Hot Springs located on the South Island of the country.
Now, the company announced plans for a new geothermal hot spring destination in the State of Victoria, Australia. Together with partners, it now plans to revive the Metung Hot Springs, which closed in 1992.
The work started in 2018 and now an investment of around USD 3.9 million has been announced that will support a staged development of a glamping village, thermal bathing pools, sauna, plunge poools, dome day lounges and walking trails. Interestingly enough it will also include the set up of a “19th Hole” hot springs bathing facility to a local golf course. Described as Australia’s first Hot Springs golf course, it would actually be interesting to learn if there are actually existing golf courses with attached hot spring spa facilities elsewhere in the world.
