Aydem Renewables has transferred the geothermal operating license for a 5782-hectare blocked area in Aydin,  Türkiye to Kocaer Steel Industry and Trade.

Aydem Renewable Energy has announced that the company’s operating license with license number J-443 for geothermal-sourced and natural mineral waters with an area of 5061.46 hectares in Aydin province, Kuyucak district,  Türkiye has been transferred to Kocaer Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kocaer Steel Industry and Trade).

Aydem Energy is an energy company that produces energy from hydroelectric, wind, geothermal, and biogas resources. With 25 renewable energy power plants throughout Türkiye, the company has an installed power capacity of 1,020 MW and an annual gross energy production of 3.2 TWh. It is also known as the company that implemented Türkiye’s first private hydroelectric power plant.

Kocaer Steel Industry and Trade made the following statement about the geothermal license purchase:

“The Geothermal Springs and Natural Mineral Water J-443 license, which is located in Aydin province, Kuyucak District, Horsunlu-Ortakci Village, belonging to Aydem Renewable Energy A.S., which we announced with our material event disclosure dated 11.05.2023, has been transferred to our company.”

“As we have mentioned before, it is one of the important parts of our corporate strategy to meet all of our self-consumption in energy from the renewable energy sources we produce, thus gaining an advantage in international competition by gaining our energy independence and contributing to the future of society in environmental, social and governance issues. In order to strengthen our position as a leading green production company in the iron and steel industry, we aim to diversify our clean energy production resources with geothermal energy production, following the roof-type solar power plants (GES) we own.

With our existing SPPs, we aim to increase our electricity production, which is 15 million kWh per year, to a total of 60 million kWh with an estimated 45 million kWh generation to be added after the completion of our Horsunlu Geo-Thermal power plant’s first phase investments, and to reach a level that will provide all of our consumption from our own power plants.

We aim to increase our electricity generation capacity significantly and to reach a diversified and strong portfolio in terms of renewable resources in the energy sector, which we have chosen as our strategic growth area, following the additional investment studies to be made in addition to the two production wells located in the Horsunlu Geothermal Resources and Natural Mineral Water license area.”
