BLM Utah leases eight parcels in geothermal lease sale

The geothermal lease sale of BLM Utah has generated USD 794,028 from the lease of eight land parcels.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah has announced that it has leased eight parcels covering 21, 685 acres of public land after the geothermal lease sale. The lease generated USD 794,028 for public land parcels managed by the BLM Cedar City and Fillmore field offices.
The geothermal lease sale was held on 12 April 2022 through a purely online platform as we reported. An additional three parcels, roughly 9,791 acres, in Fillmore and Millard counties have been leased by non-competitive sale. Canadian RodaTherm Energy Corporation and Texas-based Velikan Renewables LLC are identified as the lessees for the parcels of land.
The geothermal lease sale is part of the BLM’s efforts to facilitate the generation of 25 GW of solar, wind, and geothermal production on public lands by 2025. This is in support of the goal of the Biden-Harris administration to make the power sector carbon pollution-free by 2035.
