Indian oil and gas giant ONGC is expected to start drilling wells for a geothermal pilot plant project developed in tandem with Belgian Talboom in Gujarat, India.

Indian oil and gas giant ONGC has announced plans to soon start drilling geothermal wells for the country’s pilot geothermal power plant project in Gujarat.

In February 2012, the company signed a collaboration agreement with Belgian company Talboom, as previously reported here to develop a geothermal pilot power plant project of 3-5 MW at the Gandhar field in the South Cambay Basin in Gujarat.

The company has announced its desire to derive 30 percent of its revenues from non exploration and production activities by 2030 as part of its long term corporate plans.
