A group of companies planning development work in national park of Kurikoma near Yuzawa city in Akita Prefecture, Japan receives approval from local authorities for survey work.

In 2011, Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. and Inpex Corp announced plans on geothermal exploration in the Amemasudake area (Akaigawa and Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture) and the Oyasu area (Yuzawa, Akita Prefecture). In 2012, the companies were joined by Mitsui Oil Exploration, as reported by ThinkGeoEnergy in December 2012.

Now Japanese NHK reports that the joint project of the companies received approval from local authorities from Akita prefecture to do an exploration/ drilling survey at the planned project site in Kurikoma national park near Yuzawa city.
