Geothermal developer PT SAE has signed over infrastructure assets built for the development of the Gunung Slamet geothermal project in Central Java, Indonesia to the local community.

PT Sejahtera Alam Energy (SAE), the geothermal developer that manages the Mount Slamet (Gunung Slamet) WKP, Central Java, has donated more than Rp 11 billion (around $760k) worth of road and bridge infrastructure to the Brebes Regency Government (Pemkab).

The handover was carried out by the Director of PT SAE Dicky Rudiwibowo and the Regent of Brebes Idza Priyanti by signing the minutes and signing the inscription on Monday (31/8/2020).

The roads and bridges that have been donated have been built by PT SAE since 2018 for the benefit of geothermal exploration in Kalibuntu Village, Paguyangan District. However, because the exploration results have not shown positive results, PT SAE will divert exploration activities to the Sirampog District area.

Because the road and bridge were no longer used by PT SAE, the company donated it to the government for the benefit of the community.

The Regent of Brebes, Idza Priyanti, thanked PT SAE for handing over the land and bridge assets to the Brebes Regency Government. .

“On behalf of the residents, we thank PT SAE for providing roads and bridges that were narrow and damaged. Now the people can enjoy the roads and bridges that have been built by PT SAE,” said Idza.

Because it has been granted to the local government, damage to roads and bridges is now the responsibility of the district government.

“Therefore, with the support of the community, let us protect and care for the assets that have been donated,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Director of PT SAE, Dicky Rudiwibowo hopes that the transfer of these assets will benefit Brebes Regency and PT SAE.

Dikcy also asked for support and prayers from the Brebes community for the company’s efforts to utilize geothermal energy into electrical energy.

He said geothermal is an environmentally friendly energy source that does not cause greenhouse gas emissions.

“Therefore, we ask for the blessing of the people of Brebes so that the drilling can be successful and get positive results so that geothermal power plants will be realized for the welfare of the community,” said Dicky.

It is known that geothermal energy on Mount Slamet is planned to be developed up to 220 MW. Exploration in 2020 is an extension period after PT SAE failed to find potential steam in the previous exploration.
