Geothermal exploration drilling planned at cement production site in Efeler, Aydin, Türkiye
Geothermal drilling will be carried out in a field belonging to Kipas Çimento in Aydin, Türkiye, towards the goal of producing geothermal power.
Geothermal resource exploration drilling will be carried out in the Kalfaköy Neighborhood of the Efeler district of Aydin, Türkiye. in the license area numbered J-700 belonging to KÇS Kahramanmaras Cement Concrete Industry and Mining Inc (Kipas Cimento). The company is part of Kipas Holding, considered one of the top geothermal operators in Türkiye.
The project plans to drill a single borehole, numbered AK-4, in a 0.51-hectare section of the 2,848-hectare licensed area. The borehole is expected to reach a depth of 1,400–1,600 meters.
The study will collect scientific data on the geological and tectonic structure of the subsurface and determine the chemical and physical properties of the geothermal fluid. If temperature, flow, and other technical parameters are found to be suitable, the well will be utilized as a production well for a geothermal power plant.
