In a rather nice historical overview, local news from Biliran Island provides details about the ongoing geothermal development and background to the project.
Just discovered a historical overview on geothermal development in Biliran Island Blog, the local news outlet for the island of Biliran to the north of Leyte, Philippines.
It provides some historical details on early development and the timeline of recent activities.
First geoscientific studies were done in 1979-1980, with first exploration drilling in 1981-1982.
Today the project is developed by Biliran Geothermal, Inc. (BGI) with drilling ongoing for an initial 50 MW geothermal plant as we have reported here earlier.
