Iceland GeoSurvey and Japanese Geoscience Enterprise Inc. (GSE) have signed a cooperation agreement for services related to geothermal project development in Japan, for electricity generation and direct use.

Last week, Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR) and the Japanese company Geoscience Enterprise Inc. (GSE) signed a framework agreement on cooperation for geothermal projects in Japan. The agreement is for a three-year period on collaboration on projects related to geothermal research in Japan, both for electricity generation and direct geothermal utilization.

Geoscience Enterprise Inc. (GSE) is a Japanese research and development company focused on earth science. It is owned by GPSS Holdings Inc., a Japanese renewable energy producer and Geothermal Development & Investment Inc. (GDI), that finances small and medium-sized geothermal projects in Japan.

ÍSOR has been engaged in numerous geothermal projects in Asia, as a consultant, in research and monitoring as well as supervised students taken part in the geothermal training programme of the United Nations University.

The agreement was signed by Takahiro Kurata, CEO of GSE, and Ólafur G. Flóvenz, CEO of ÍSOR.
