The Nanyang Technological University in Singapore currently has an open Research Fellow position on Machine Learning for Geothermal Energy Exploration.

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore currently has a Research Fellow position for the research topic “Machine Learning for Geothermal Energy Exploration.” Applications can be filed via the official NTU job listing. There is no indicated deadline on the posting.

The position will be under the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS). The responsibilities for the chosen candidate are as follows:

  • Develop modern machine learning techniques for seismic data analysis
  • Deploy seismic sensors and collect seismic data at possible geothermal sites in Singapore
  • Use advanced inversion theory to interpret real seismic reflection data
  • Publish scientific results in high-profile journals

A candidate must have a PhD in mathematics, computer sciences, physics, geophysics, engineering or equivalent with evidence of innovation and/or high quality publications in the area of computational mathematics, computer sciences, applied mathematics or geophysics.

We had previously reported on efforts of researchers from NTU to explore the potential of tapping the hot spring in Sembawang, Singapore for geothermal energy utilization.
