Momentum for geothermal development is growing following the publication of four feasibility studies for deep geothermal projects in Scotland.

Following the publication of four feasibility studies for geothermal development in Scotland, there seems to be a certain momentum growing. For the first time in three years there will be a dedicated Geothermal session at All-Energy, the UK’s largest renewable energy event.

Taking place this Wednesday the 4th of May at 4pm in Glasgow’s SECC, the Geothermal session will consist of six presentations followed by a discussion panel.

Four of the presentations will be by the project leads for Scotland’s four recently published deep geothermal project feasibility studies, funded by the Scottish Governments Geothermal Energy Challenge Fund.

The session is being chaired by David Townsend, Founder & MD at Town Rock Energy. “Having pushed the industry forward in Scotland for three years and contributed to three of the four recently published feasibility studies, it is very encouraging to see the profile for geothermal increasing at this high-profile conference. It’s also really good that the four feasibility studies involve fundamentally different geothermal energy technologies, and I sincerely hope they all receive further funding for the next phase.

I am delighted to be chairing the session at All-Energy, and look forward to facilitating an energetic discussion going with the Scottish project leads about how the few industry players can best work together to keep the momentum growing in Scotland and the wider UK.”
