PGE President Ahmad Yuniarto announces that the company is now open to cooperation opportunities in the areas of co-generation, co-development, and co-production.

During the Pertamina Energy Transtition webinar that was held on 18 March, Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) President Director Ahmad Yuniarto announced that the company was now open to opportunities for cooperation in developing geothermal power plants with other parties.

Ahmad Yuniarto emphasized that major issues such as global warming and decarbonization cannot be addressed by any single company and that networks and partnerships will be needed. In this context, he mentioned three areas where partnerships with PGE are available – co-generation, co-production, and co-development.

Under each area, specific examples were cited as opportunities.

  • Co-generation: Joint power generation through the optimization of geothermal steam and brine
  • Co-production: Extraction of rare earth elements from geothermal brine, production of alternative fuels such as green hydrogen and green methanol
  • Co-development: Development of geo-eco tourism and geo-agro industries

“The condition is that the strategic partnership must be able to provide benefits to both parties, and be able to create added value for the earth, the world, and a better future,” added Ahmad. His message follows up on an announcement made by  PT Pertamina (Persero) President Commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama last year, as we reported, that his company is still looking for a strategic partner for the development of geothermal energy
