Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines grants exploration license to Eco Energy for Pinaya IV and V in Santa Lucia, province of Lampa, Peru.

Reported by Piensa En Geotermia, “the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of Peru has granted the company Eco Energy the authorization to pursue geothermal resource exploration in the areas known Pinaya IV and Pinaya V , located in the district of Santa Lucia, province of Lampa (Puno) .

The Directorate General of Electricity (DGE) MEM issued two resolutions to the relevant authorization requests from Eco Energy on October 11 and December 17, 2010, for Pinaya IV and Pinaya V, respectively.

Eco Energy shall perform the activities described in their respective schedules, which provide for a period of 24 months for Phase I, computed from the effective date of this resolution, and 12 months for Phase II, computed from the culmination of Phase I.

The applicant company was authorized to perform this work after the DGE verified and tested to comply with the requirements of the Law on Geothermal Resources.

It also pledged to have an environmental study, approved by the Directorate General of Energy Environmental Affairs (DGAAE) MEM, before the start of the exploration.
