PT Resources Jaya Teknik Management Indonesia (PT RMI) and Star Energy Wayang Windu will cooperate in geothermal drilling activity at Pengalengan, West Java.

According to a release, “PT Resources Jaya Teknik Management Indonesia (PT RMI) and Star Energy Wayang Windu will cooperate in geothermal drilling activity in the Pengalengan area in West Java.

A memorandum of understanding on the cooperation was signed by Chief Executive Officer of Star Energy Grout, Bret Mattes, and PT RMI President Director Rohmad Hadiwijoyo in Bali on Monday.

In his press statement to Antara here on Monday, Rohmad Hadiwijoyo said a momentum for renewable energy development such as geothermal should be followed by other provinces like Bali.

He added that in so doing, the national electricity crisis would not pose a threat to economic development that had been declared by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at a national working meeting in Tampak Siring Palace in Bali recently.

PT RMI does the drilling by using new generation rig of AC Ideal TM from American National Oil Varco (NOV), because the rig was specially designed to drill geothermal with high technology.

While Star Energy Wayang Windu is a Star Energy Holding Pty Lmt subsidiary which develops geothermal power plants (PLTP) with the capacity of 200 megawatt (MW) with a commitment to increase it by 400 MW in 2014.

Meanwhile, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said Indonesia would be the world’s largest geothermal energy user.”
