According to local news, PT Syntesa Banten Geothermal, has won a tender for geothermal exploration and management in Pandelang, Banten Province, Indonesia.

According to the Head of the Department of Mines and Energy (Distamben) Pandeglang Girgijantoro in Pandeglang, potential for development is located at Mount Reef .

The site’s power generation capacity potential of up to 225 MW if exploration proves successful.

Gravity modeling analysis of the study area, provided a picture of the existence of some structure and breakthrough Terban intrusive rocks are thought to function as deposits of geothermal potential. Younger intrusive rocks below Mount Karang can be interpreted as a heat source. Tertiary sedimentary rocks likely serve as a reservoir.

The possibility of geothermal potential is also indicated by the presence of several hot springs in the area.
