With the new 23 MW Sultanhisir 2 geothermal power plant by Celikler, Ormat Technologies has successfully brought its 32nd geothermal power plant online in Turkey.

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Turkey has given its operation license to additional two Ormat supplied geothermal power plants on October 19, 2018 – the 23 MW Celikler Sultanhisar 2 and the 27 MW 3S Kale Incirliova JES-1. Both power plants were commissioned on time and demonstrated over the contracted capacity.

This brings the total number of geothermal power plants by Ormat in Turkey to 32 and pushes the geothermal power generation capacity of Turkey to 1,288 MW as of today.

The power plants are based on the Ormat Energy Converter (OEC) technology representing over 50 years of Ormat’s field proven experience.

The turbines, oil skids and other auxiliaries were manufactured by Ormaturk – Ormat’s manufacturing facility in Turkey in accordance to Ormat’s strict standards of quality. Due to the Turkish made products, the project is eligible to a significant incentive under the Turkish regulations.

Over the last decade Ormat installed its state-of-the-art binary technology in 32 power plants totaling 573 MW, and additionally has under construction a current pipeline of 8 projects that will add 255 MW to Turkey’s grid.

Ormat is dedicated to the Turkish market and will sustain its support and development activities in this market while looking to broaden market opportunities.
