Utilising geothermal energy to dry wood for its production of wood pellets, Taupo, New Zealand - based Nature's Flame has created a sustainable product.

In 2019, we reported on a new direct use business that utilises geothermal energy for drying wood waste to produce sustainable wood pellets in New Zealand.

Nature’s Flame has been producing wood pellets since 2003, yet moved and expanded its business in 2010 to move into the center of the timber industry of New Zealand in Taupo .. and from there it was a short step to utilise geothermal energy for drying timber.

“Nature’s Flame make a mountain of sustainable wood pellets every year. That takes a fair bit of energy and our boiler was literally running out of steam.” so the company in a recent video shared by Contact Energy.
