In this webinar by IGC.events, Jean-Philippe Gibaud, founder of Geolith will share first feedback from pilot project tests on direct lithium extraction.

The industrial start-up GeoLith ambitions to provide the means to extract lithium contained in any type of fluid containing lithium, whether natural (geothermal, oil, salars) or artificial (recycling, waste recovery, purification) to meet the needs of industrial value chains derived from lithium.

Therefore the company developed an extraction unit which performed at the company’s test site in Haguenau in northern Alsace on brines (lithium
concentration from 25 to 500mg/liter) from the Upper Rhine Graben an extraction rate of more than 95% for a 15’ contact time. The operational conditions were at 70 degrees C and 35 bars.

In June, testing of the Geolith unit started in Cornwall. In cooperation with GEO3, a joint venture of Cornish Lithium and Geothermal Energienering Limited, they extracted Lithium from the brine of the United Downs Project.

Jean Philippe Gibaud, the founder and director of Geolith will present the extraction unit and the plant at the next Focus on Geothermal webinar of IGC.events on Friday, 2 July at 14.00 CEST.
