Specific dates have been announced for the 2023 World Geothermal Congress following a previous postponement to October 2023.

EDITOR’S NOTE: WGC 2023 has now been rescheduled to 14 to 23 September 2023.

The specific dates and schedules have been announced for the 2023 World Geothermal Congress to take place in Beijing, China. An option for virtual participation will also be provided. The schedule is as follows:

  • 7 -8 October 2023 – Short course
  • 9 – 11 October 2023 – Technical programme (hybrid)
  • 12 – 13 October 2023 – Field trips

The revised schedule follows a previous announcement by the International Geothermal Association and the National Geothermal Energy Center of China (CNGEC) that the event had to be postponed to October 2023 in light of the uncertainty of scheduling under China’s zero-COVID policy.

The organizing team has decided to constrain the technical programme to three days and offer an option for virtual participation because of the difficulties in scheduling and planning a global event.

Other relevant dates are as below:

  • End of November 2022 – Information for exhibition and sponsorship packages to be made available
  • 31 December 2022 – Deadline for paper submissions to the technical programme

The World Geothermal Congress (WGC) is the premier global geothermal event for the sharing of knowledge and innovations from around the world, bringing together leaders of industry, academia, governments, NGO’s and communities to collaborate and provide thoughtful solutions for a sustainable world.
