Free registration is currently open for the hybrid workshop on "Geothermal Energy in Canada" taking place on 27-28 July 2023.

Registration is currently open for the hybrid (in-person and online) workshop “Geothermal Energy in Canada: Development in Remote, Isolated, and Indigenous Communities.” The event is being organized by the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

The event will be on 27 -28 July 2023, starting at 9 AM EDT. Registration is free and can be done via this link.

The workshop will explore current activities and developments in all geothermal technologies being used or considered in Canada. The focus will be its development and implementation in remote, isolated, and indigenous communities. From this meeting, the institute aims to generate a synthesis outlining pathways to greater adoption of geothermal. Thus, the institute invites researchers, scholars, policy-makers, company representatives, and other stakeholders in or outside Canada to contribute to the workshop, whether in-person or online.

The workshop will features panels and presentations from academic researchers and representatives from the government and the industry. The second day will be dedicated to a “working session” where participants will form groups to discuss pathways for geothermal energy in Canada.
