As part of WGC 2026, a roundtable will be held to discuss how geothermal energy is being explored and deployed in airports across the world.

As part of the upcoming World Geothermal 2026 in Calgary, Canada, a roundtable will convene international airport representatives and geothermal industry leaders to discuss how geothermal systems are being explored and deployed across airport infrastructure, from early-stage feasibility through to operational systems.

Organized by the International Geothermal Association (IGA), the World Geothermal Congress (WGC 2026) is the flagship event of the global geothermal community. This year’s edition will be held on 8-11 June 2026 in Calgary, Canada.

The Global Geothermal Airports Network roundtable is scheduled on 9 June 2026, at 13:45-15:45. The confirmed speakers and topics for the roundtable are:

  • Jeremy Carkner, Senior Project Manager, Sustainability, daa

    • Sharing insights from the geothermal feasibility work completed for Dublin Airport and the wider airport decarbonisation journey.

  • Etienne Séguin-Dupuis, Mechanical Engineer, Airport Infrastructure, Montréal–Trudeau International Airport

    • Discussing Montréal’s progression from feasibility and pilot work through to board-level approval.

  • Darrell Watson, Senior Vice President, Chief Experience Officer, Louisville Regional Airport Authority

    • Providing operational insights and performance learnings from Louisville’s live airport geothermal system.

  • Charlotte Xin Zhao, CEO, Arctic Green Energy

    • Sharing Xi’An International airport perspective on large-scale geothermal deployment.

Roundtable dialogue sessions will then follow the presentations. The organizers of the roundtable wish to express their gratitude to the speakers for contributing to what should be a highly valuable and insightful international discussion.
